ABOUT ME
When my parents and ex-teachers learned from my letters from Belfast in 1985 that I wanted to be a mediator, they clasped their hands over their heads: "Tilman of all people!" My teachers expected that I would have a career as a scientist start. It was clear to my parents that I would become a professor like my father. During my school days I was noticed by all kinds of things, but definitely not by special social skills. I was anything but an intermediary. As a quarrelsome and competitive student, I was in the middle school with most of my classmates: unpopular inside and was derogated by my last name, butcher. From the fifth grade, I became increasingly aware of this and it tormented me internally.
"Surprised, thankful, honored ..."
It was only in the course of my professional development that I managed to develop my negative image of my social skills. I was surprised and grateful to discover what natural gifts I have as a mediator:
Acute crises give me a strong boost in determination, creativity and energy.
I am driven by a great curiosity to understand how the world works in all its aspects - so I approach every company and every conflict system with great interest.
A high level of concentration allows me to listen carefully to my customers for a whole day.
I have a deeply rooted sense of justice. I am sure that there are always two sides to the same coin.
I am honored that you trust me. I stand shoulder to shoulder with all of you. At heart, people are cooperators, not warriors, I'm convinced of that. I see opportunities for understanding where those involved in the conflict see each other only as malicious. I share this attitude with the doctor Joachim Bauer: Principle of humanity:
Why we cooperate naturally, Heyne 2008.
I have suffered a lot from conflict and my inability to deal with it. This has changed due to my consciously forty-year developmental journey: I am satisfied with my reaction to my own conflicts much more often than before. But it happens again and again that I puddle in puddles, get involved in competition and feel bad about how I react to my own conflicts.
If you as my customer can be sure of one thing, this is it:
- I can well understand that you have reached your limits with your own conflict skills.
- I respect you because you are often forced to face this extremely difficult situation.
- I am honored that you entrust yourself to me and stand shoulder to shoulder with all of you.
